When we look over the political campaigns of the last century we see the increasing mendacity of Progressive politicians. Teddy Roosevelt and Wilson were simply wrong. They didn’t think they had to lie, because as Progressives they knew they were smarter than mere people and qualified to run the world. After the failure to ratify the League of Nations, Progressives couldn’t speak their true names. Nor could they admit that birth control and abortion were meant only to exterminate inferior people, not truly VALUABLE people such as themselves. To achieve power, everything about them had to be a lie.
The first of these men was FDR. Who is alive to remember how he campaigned against Hoover as a deficit spending fool? Who can remember how he promised to balance the budget? Certainly not historians. If you want to know how utterly corrupt FDR was, consider only the confiscation of gold at $20 per ounce, and the immediate rise in price to $32 an ounce. That’s a sixty percent theft from every single American. The New Deal Court Packing attempt was no different than Obama’s bribery and flagrant violation of Legislative rules to get Obamacare. Do what you have to do to get what you want. The lesser Democrats (Truman and Johnson) simply invoked the name of FDR and kept on stealing the value of everything, particularly Social Security. Did we really not understand that when we wrote checks to the Treasury Department our money was not going into an investment account for OUR retirement? We couldn’t see it was all a lie?
Truman and Johnson were Patriots of a sort. They actually liked America and what it stood for. Jimmy Carter did not. He still does not. There isn’t a third world leftist dictator whose ass he wouldn’t kiss, or hasn’t. Radio host Mark Levin has told the story of how, when he was a low level functionary in the Reagan Administration, he had to figure out who was this guy Saul Alinsky. There were boxes of the book "Rules for Radicals" left behind by the Carterites.
Then there is Clinton, married to Alinsky zealot Hillary, whose whole first campaign was an utter and successful lie. Do you remember the middle class tax cut meant to help the poor American people out of the worst economy in fifty years? Exactly a month after he was elected, and a month before he became President, the Tax cut disappeared. I don’t recall any questions in the Press. The Journal didn’t like it, nor did Limbaugh. Instead we got a tax hike.
Ah, Obama, our first clearly Marxist President. He knew the shameful truth about America: If you want to keep a secret, put it in a book. In his two books he admitted he had been raised by Communists, hung out only with them, and gravitated to Communist professors. Thank God we didn’t know that!
What else was his pose as a centrist but a lie? His gaudy promises? Lies! I had noticed as I listened to his speeches a tendency to lie, so I decided to give him three lies before I switched off the TV. Nowadays I turn it off when he says good morning. As Mary McCarthy (Yes, I once met her!) once said of the Stalinist Lillian Hellman, “Every word she says is a lie, including ‘and’ and ‘the’.” Such is Progressive America.
